SCOUTING - Join the Adventure!
Scouting Opportunities in West Somerset Scout District

Any young person who is thinking about joining the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Explorers
may contact the Group Scout Leader of the Group which is most convenient for them,
or the District Contact (see Contact Us page).

It may be that the Group choosen doesn't currently have space to enable joining
immediately, in which case you may be able to go on the waiting list for the Group, or
alternatively, contact one of the other Groups who may have space, enabling you to
join immediately.

Adult Opportunities in West Somerset Scout District

We rely on volunteer help - be it uniformed Leaders at all levels, behind the scenes
workers, fund raisers, committee members, instructors and so on. Usually the number
of youngsters wanting to join Scouting exceeds the places available. Having additional
Leaders/adult helpers in a Section means that the Section can allow more youngsters
to join. (Maximum ratios of youngsters to adults is laid down by the Scout Association
for the various sections).

It can be very fulfilling working with young people; helping them to work together as
a team; showing them how to cook a meal; how to erect tents - the list is almost
endless. Free training and uniform is provided for those adults who would like to
become warranted Members of the Scout Association in our District.

Warrant presentation

Why not give it a try and see how you like Scouting? If you don't like it you
haven't lost anything, but if you don't try it you will never know what you have
missed .....

You don't have to be a warranted Leader, there is a place for you somewhere and
together we can find it for you.
